About me
I am an established British/Iranian documentary filmmaker. I've made films across the globe for many of the big broadcasters, including BBC, HBO and Netflix. My interests lie in strong character-driven narratives dealing with issues of social justice. I am available to work on documentary or current affairs projects that need strong writers, shooters, directors and edit director/producers. I am also open to collaboration.

MORE ABOUT LEILA
As a young child I came to the UK as a refugee. Due to this experience my documentaries have focused on stories of injustice and hope. I direct observational, historical, biographical and investigative films internationally, often in situations of unrest. I have had the good fortune to work on several award winning documentaries and series.
I write scripts, direct crews and self-shoot. I was based in Brazil for 5 years and speak English, French, Portuguese and Farsi. I won the best Portuguese Language Film at the Portugal International Film Festival, which as an British-Iranian was a highlight of my career!
I have co-run a contemporary art space in the centre of Rio de Janeiro and shot videos for a charity in Iran that helps young prostitutes get into education and off the streets.
I did my Master’s at Columbia School of Journalism, where I was the Brigette O'Hara Forster scholar. I currently live in London with my French bulldog, Rumi.
